Visible Language: New Directions in Typography Exhibit Poster

The purpose of this project was to create a poster advertising the Cooper Hewitt Visible Language exhibit and lectures that used a design inspired by a chosen designer. The designer chosen was Uwe Loesch, with the design's vivid colors and use of color blocks being pulled from his pieces. There is a color block in the right corner that is actually continuous illegible text, going against the title of the exhibition. The title is also referred to in the design with its text incrementally morphing into indistinguishable abstract letterforms and the textual content of the poster with information about the location, duration, and lecturers being flipped upside down, giving a puzzle to any viewer. The bottom of the poster gives information about the gallery in the yellow accent color, tying in the yellow in the title. In addition to the yellow, the title jumps out from the page with a duplicated black layer offset and placed behind the yellow layer, drawing the viewer in.
